 Julie is currently the Coding Manager at Group Health Cooperative and is an AHIMA-certified ICD-10-CM & PCS trainer.  Julie completed her Master of Science in Health Administration from Central Michigan University in 2008.  She chose the topic “Managing Intergenerational Workforces” as a new supervisor at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.  Julie is also a member of AHIMA’s ACE Committee, a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and is currently serving as the Secretary of WSHIMA.

Kim is a seasoned professional who has worked in the healthcare industry for over 20 years. She has a broad range of expertise and has performed coding and documentation audits and education involving more than 20 various specialty and sub-specialty services. About the Presenter:  

 
Bill is currently serving as WSHIMA’s Chief Delegate to AHIMA.  He has served in a variety of volunteer roles since sitting for his RHIA credential in 1984, including as SHIMA president; WSHIMA president, director and delegate for three terms; AHIMA Foundation director for two terms; Environmental Scan Team co-chair for 2010-2011; and as a member of AHIMA’s Diversity Task Force for three years and State Advocacy Workgroup for two years.  He has represented WSHIMA as a Community HIT Alliance board director since 2000.  Click here for a pdf copy of the presentation.

Bill has been Health Information Administrator and later, Senior Policy Analyst, over the last fourteen years at Group Health Cooperative.  Previously, he held positions as director of acute care HIM departments, manager of Utilization, Quality Assurance, Coding and Data Quality, software implementation specialist, consultant, DRG coordinator, and coder.

About the Presenter: With over 15 years HIM experience, Petra has worked in all facets of record flow. Petra received her RHIT credential in 1997 via the AHIMA distance education program. In 2000 she obtained her RHIA, and in 2001 she took both the CCS and CCS-P exams. Petra has been consulting in the HIM field since 1998, first in coding, DRG and APC, and eventually moving toward charge audits. She now owns her own business specializing in revenue cycle functions. Originally from Germany, Petra now lives in Olympia, Washington with her husband. She continues to love coding and billing.

Joe L. Rivet is traveling to see us from Michigan.  He is a Coding Compliance Specialist from the firm of Hall, Render, et al. which is the second largest Healthcare Law Firm in the US.  He has extensive experience in Coding as a profession.  He is a former member of AHIMA's Professional Ethics Committee, he has been an instructor for the Dept. of Justice Medicaid Integrity Institute, his writings have been published in several professional publications and he speaks throughout the United States.  You won't want to miss his teaching!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23rd  2010– A Workshop focused on HIPAA and HITECH
Stephen D. Rose is a Seattle-based attorney who speaks throughout the United States on HIPAA and related subjects.  His firm, Garvey, Schubert, Barer focuses on healthcare law.  It is both a national firm and an international firm.  He has been published in several publications.  Recently he has published articles in "Washington Healthcare News" and his firm provides a publication entitled "Garvey Schubert Barer Legal Update."  Stephen is very knowledgeable and as a Washington attorney brings a special attention to the perspective of federal law vs. state law.
